JOB PURPOSE:
Primary responsibilities include managing key existing and new business accounts, serving as the primary source for new business (lead) development with the goal of transitioning accounts to the external sales representatives. This position reports to the Inside Sales Manager.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Work on the inside to develop the multitude of small and mid-size leads in all sectors
- Consistently make outbound calls to generate new business, as well as develop new leads
- Identify underperforming accounts (those not purchasing as much as in the past), and increase business of those accounts to meet or exceed previous levels
- Become a turnaround specialist for underperforming past accounts that have purchased significant amounts in the past, and currently are buying small amounts
- Develop leads from the Internet, trade journals and other sources
- Match customer needs with Woodland Food abilities to meet those needs
- Upsell customers on Woodland products (e.g., suggesting new products or offering volume discounts, etc.)
- Gather customer information to determine products used
- Handle special sales projects
- Handle special data research and entry projects that relate to growing new business
Secondary Functions
- Assist other departments with customer interactions (e.g., Accounts Receivables
- issues)
- Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned
Qualifications/Requirements
- Requires college degree and/or equivalent experience.
- Previous customer service or inside sales experience desirable. Food industry experience desirable.
Skills/Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including formal presentation skills
- Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of product lines, applications and customer needs
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with MicroSoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
